Any writer worth his salt writes to please himself… It’s a self-exploratory operation that is endless. An exorcism of not necessarily his demon, but of his divine discontent.

Writing Real Villains

wilsathethief:

Villains are probably one of the most interesting aspects of writing and stories in general. They’re tricky, clever, and most importantly malicious and antagonistic.

So often villains have a very special set of characteristics; you see this in fantasy with the dark sweeping cloaks and black…

This be so much truth. I think it’s aspects of villains like these which Yoshihiro Togashi loves to deconstruct in his series’. Also some of my favourite villains are the ones that seem like nice guys or even have the ideals for a hero or main character but are in fact villains (like Griffith). Same when the main character has similar traits of villains but is the “hero” like in Drakengard (Caim, you ain’t nobody’s hero).

Most of my life I have been wondering why I know the majority of the lyrics to the song Give a Reason from Slayers if I’ve never seen the show…and now I have just realized I got it from Frank’s Adventure 3…;orz
